Serge Avédikian is set to start production on his next film, Last Round in Istanbul, in the fall of 2023.
Serge Avédikian and his production team confirmed exclusive details about the film to the Armenian Film Society. Last Round in Istanbul is set in 1946 and tells the story of an Irish boxer’s love story with an Armenian woman. The film will use archival footage along with actors integrated into the footage, will be shot in black and white in 4:3 aspect ratio, and will take place in Addis Ababa, Djibouti, Istanbul, and ultimately ending in Marseilles.
Serge Avédikian is an Armenian-French actor, writer, director, and producer whose credits include Paradjanov, which he directed and starred in as Sergei Parajanov, as well as Lost in Armenia, about a comedian who performs in Azerbaijan and is abandoned on a desert road after his taxi breaks down. In 2010, he won the prestigious Palme d'Or for Best Short Film for his work on Chienne d'histoire.
