Jeanne Dielman Named Greatest Film of All Time in Sight and Sound Poll

Jeanne Dielman, 23, quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles is the greatest film of all time, according to Sight and Sound.

Sight and Sound is a British film magazine published by the British Film Institute (BFI), which also conducts the Sight and Sound Poll of the Greatest Films of All Time, once every decade.

In its first publication in 1952, The Bicycle Thief was named as the greatest film of all time. Citizen Kane later dominated for five decades in 1962, 1972, 1982, 1992, and 2002, until Vertigo took the top spot in 2012. This year, Vertigo landed in the #2 spot, with Citizen Kane falling behind to #3. Moonlight, Get Out, Parasite, and Portrait of a Lady on Fire are the only films released since 2012 to make the Top 100.

Jeanne Dielman, 23, quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles, more commonly known simply as Jeanne Dielman, is a 1975 drama film by Belgian filmmaker Chantal Akerman. The film is a slice of life portrayal of the life of a housewife, and boasts a running time of 201 minutes.
