The Golden Apricot Yerevan International Film Festival hosted a screening of Sean Baker's The Florida Project, followed by a virtual Q&A with the director, on Saturday, December 10.
The Florida Project centers on the summertime adventures of a six-year-old girl who lives with her unemployed single mother in a budget motel in Kissimmee, Florida. Their struggle to make ends meet and stave off homelessness takes place in an environment dominated by the nearby Walt Disney World.
The Florida Project also features Karren Karagulian, a frequent collaborator of Sean Baker's, in a supporting role. The duo are longtime collaborators on Sean Baker's projects, including Prince of Broadway, Starlet, Red Rocket, and Tangerine, which prominently features an Armenian character and his family. Tangerine will screen on the big screen in Los Angeles at the American Cinematheque at the Los Feliz 3 on Thursday, December 23.
